Metacurity has been tracking venture funding deals in the cybersecurity arena since Q1 2018, maintaining a database that now consists of 1,258 funding deals for “pure-play” cybersecurity companies who focus exclusively, or almost exclusively, on cybersecurity. For the latest quarter, Q3 2022, the total venture funding invested in cybersecurity companies amounted to $3.018 billion, a 10.5% drop below Q2 2022’s total of $3.372 billion.
The $3.018 billion amount reflects a continuation of the consistent quarterly decline in total venture investments the cybersecurity sector experienced during 2022. These quarterly declines followed the record-breaking $8.321 billion generated in venture funding deals during Q4 2021. It is also the lowest quarterly venture funding tally for cybersecurity since Q4 2020 when the total venture funding amount was $2.942 billion.
