Google’s Threat Analysis Group (TAG) said in a new report entitled Fog of War that Russian state-sponsored hackers have inundated Ukrainian targets with a “near-constant digital attack” in the year since the invasion, increasing their attempted hacks on Ukrainian users last year by 250% compared with 2020.
Among the top targets for the attack were Ukraine’s ministries of Defense, Foreign Affairs, and the National Agency for Service. Google said that hackers have also increased their focus on members of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization, particularly Poland, Germany, and the Baltic states. In 2023, Google said it expects Moscow to step up attacks on Ukraine and on NATO partners.
According to the report, NATO countries experienced a 300% increase in Russian phishing campaigns last year compared to 2020. …
