Three Iranian Steel Companies Targeted in Cyberattack by Likely State-Backed Hacktivists

One of Iran’s largest steel companies, Khuzestan Steel Company, was hit by a massive cyberattack bringing the industry to a grinding halt, with a murky hacktivist group, Predatory Sparrow, taking credit.
A steel mill in the central Iranian town of Mobarakeh said its system was also struck. At the same time, the state-run IRAN newspaper reported that another factory in the southern Iranian port of Bandar Abbas was targeted in the cyberattack. However, neither plant acknowledged any damage or work stoppage as a result.
CEO Amin Ebrahimi claimed that Khuzestan Steel managed to thwart the cyberattack and prevent damage to production that would impact supply chains and customers.
