A group of suspected Chinese hackers rigged a cluster of servers in the basement of an administrative annex to siphon surveillance videos from across the African Union’s campus in Addis Ababa, the African Union’s technology staff discovered on a tip from Japanese cybersecurity researchers.
The breach was carried out by a Chinese hacking group nicknamed Bronze President, and the affected cameras encompassed “AU offices, parking areas, corridors, and meeting rooms.” (Raphael Satter / Reuters)
