Senator Ron Wyden (D-OR) is calling for three separate federal probes of Microsoft’s “negligent cybersecurity practices” that he said enabled a Chinese espionage campaign against the US government.
In a letter addressed to Attorney General Merrick Garland, Federal Trade Commission Chair Lina Khan, and Jen Easterly, the director of the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency, Wyden said, “Even with the limited details that have been made public so far, Microsoft bears significant responsibility for this new incident.”
