A news bulletin on Iranian state television was hacked and a video of the country's supreme leader was broadcast with images flashing of murdered woman Mahsa Amini alongside three other women allegedly killed during the country’s unrest.
Throughout the 15-second hack, a caption read, “Join us and stand up!” along with text criticizing Ayatollah Ali Khamenei for their deaths. A song with the lyrics “Woman. Life. Freedom,” a familiar chant of the protesters, played in the background alongside the flashed images. A group called “Edalat Ali” or “Ali’s Justice” took credit for the hack. (Hyder Abbasi / NBC News)
