In a rare positive turn of events in a ransomware saga, the cross-blockchain cryptocurrency platform Poly Network announced that a hacker they dubbed Mr. White Hat, who stole around $600 million in various cryptocurrencies, had returned all of the stolen funds, except for assets frozen in the immediate aftermath of the hack.

The decentralized finance (Defi) platform thanked the hacker for returning the funds in a blog post, saying, "Once again, we would like to thank Mr. White Hat for keeping his promise, as well as the community, partners, and the multiple security agencies for their assistance."
