Hacktivists Create Digital Chaos Following Hamas' Attacks on Israel

Hacktivists in the region surrounding Hamas’ deadly attack on Israel over the weekend immediately joined the fight, launching DDoS and defacement attacks on Israeli and Palestinian websites and applications, creating digital chaos in the newly declared war.
“I saw at least 60 websites get DDoS attacks,” says Will Thomas, a cyber threat intelligence researcher at cybersecurity firm Equinix who has been following the online activity. “Half of those are Israeli government sites. I've seen at least five sites be defaced to show ‘Free Palestine’–related messages.”
