Invoking the Korean War-era Defense Production Act, the Biden administration will issue an executive order to invoke emergency federal powers to rein in the risks of artificial intelligence.
The order would compel major AI companies to notify the government when developing any system that poses a “serious risk to national security, national economic security or national public health and safety,” according to a fact sheet issued by the White House.
