Former Director of the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency Chris Krebs, who was ignominiously fired by Donald Trump for successfully protecting the U.S. election from interference and malfeasance, reiterated in a 60 Minutes segment that this past election was the most secure in recent history. The lifelong Republican and now bona fide cybersecurity hero told 60 Minutes’ Scott Pelley that he is confident in the recent elections' security due to four years of work by his agency to protect them. He said he was upset by his dismissal largely because he couldn’t say goodbye to his team, who worked with him in the trenches to shore up the election’s security. He also said it’s upsetting to see political operatives such as Rudy Guiliani attempt to undermine confidence in the election and confuse people because tens of thousands of election workers toiled tirelessly to secure voting for all Americans.
