Chinese Group Dragonbridge Seeks to Fuel Division, Discord Ahead of Midterm Elections

Researchers at Google-owned Mandiant say that internet trolls linked to China that are part of a group they call Dragonbridge are trying to fuel political division and discord in the U.S. ahead of the November midterm elections, suggesting Beijing is interested in meddling in American politics after largely abstaining during previous contests.
The efforts, including attempts to create rifts between the U.S. and its European allies around the war in Ukraine, appear to have had a minimal impact so far. But Mandiant warns that the troll group’s tradecraft was rapidly maturing. The group seemed intent on injecting disinformation into Americans’ internet feeds in ways that resemble past Russian and Iranian efforts to disrupt elections.
